Meet Our Team of Excavation Professionals

David Allen Powell

Owner/Founder Pyramid Paving LLC, Chairman, S&N Communications, Inc.

Allen Powell has 39 years of utility industry experience in the facility locating and excavation business. Allen began his career in the cable and communications industry in 1983 and worked for numerous companies including GE Cablevision, Future vision and TCI Cablevision.

In 1993, Allen founded his own company, Pyramid Construction of Virginia, Inc., to perform outside plant infrastructure services throughout Virginia. In 1995, Allen saw the advantages of teaming up with a larger company and sold his business to S&N Communications.

Today, Allen is also the Chairman of S&N Communications, Inc. In this role, Allen manages and leads an experienced team of 230 in-house professionals providing all aspects of facility locating and excavating, for telecommunications, and electric utilities throughout Virginia, the Mid-Atlantic and Alabama.

A big believer in reliable and cost-effective service to the utility industry, Allen is a visible and active supporter of the Virginia Underground Utility Damage Prevention Act. He has seen first-hand how doing things the right way, utilizing technology, advancing superior training programs, and treating people with respect make for Good Business-

In early 2024, Allen founded Pyramid Excavation and handpicked the best people in the industry to operate Pyramid Excavation at the highest levels of service and quality for business, municipality, and homeowner excavation projects throughout Virginia. Also involved in philanthropy, Allen can be found hauling his cooker across the state of Virginia and preparing hundreds of meals for special events and fundraisers. In addition to Allen's leadership in the utility locating and excavating industry, he is the father of seven children.

Dennis Brookman

Director of Operations.

Dennis Brookman has more than 30 years of experience in the excavation industry. He found his passion for operating equipment with the help of his father at only age 5. Beginning his career directly out of high school, Dennis worked his way through every aspect of the field, gaining an abundance of knowledge and on the job experience.

Here at Pyramid Excavation, Dennis is the Director of Operations and is an excellent leader who is valued for his knowledge, patience, and dependability. From estimating to hands-on operations, he enjoys helping clients turn their dream projects into masterpieces.

When not at work, Dennis finds joy in lending a helping hand to his church community and spending quality time with family & friends.

Lauren Mawyer

Office Manager

Lauren had a career in the banking industry for 15 years, starting as a teller and ending as office manager. Lauren worked as an Administrative Assistant doing Accounts Receivable and processing Hired Trucker payroll for a paving firm before finding her home at Pyramid Excavation.

Lauren is committed to helping Pyramid grow and become the best it can be by providing exceptional customer service and a point of contact for all customers to ask questions and become familiar with Pyramid and what we have to offer.

Aside from work, Lauren loves gardening and caring for her small homestead of chickens, dogs, and ducks, just like she takes care of all Pyramid Excavation's Employees and Customers!

Mary Powell

Administrative Assistant

Mary started her career in retail. She worked for a convenience store for 10 years, starting as a cashier and leaving as a store manager. She then pursued a career in the banking industry for 7 years before joining our team at Pyramid Excavation.

She is passionate about providing exceptional customer service. Mary thrives on helping customers and ensuring they have a positive experience.

When Mary is not working, she enjoys helping her husband with farming and spending time with family and friends.
